Before I head to IABD, I will be teaching a Black Women/Girl Focus Dance Class for my colleagues at Berklee Teachers on Teaching. Play, Black Girl, Play! 31 Hemenway, Room T301 This session is a physically existing space. What does it look and feel like to allow black women and girls to be their full selves? How do we shift space to create a world that loves black women and girls fully? Hip-hop dance faculty Jazelynn Goudy will share insights and personal stories about how to create a space of liberation that is open, brave, and gracious so we may all fully engage, collaborate, and learn from one another. From hand and dance games to corner dance sessions, participants in this session will play the way children—specifically black girls—have played from way back when to now. Together, we will explore how we can tap into the art of play and improvisation in order to open up more space for black women and girls. Participants will work together to generate movement and choreography. Presented by: Jazelynn Goudy
